Generator
HVAC Google Review Link Generator
Turn your Google Place ID into a direct review link customers can tap, then copy a ready-to-send text and email that ask for the review the right way. Built for hvac contractors who want more reviews without breaking Google's rules. Free, no signup.
Don’t know your Place ID? Type your business name into Google’s Place ID Finder and copy the ID it shows. Prefer the official link? Google explains where to find it.
Ask everyone, every time
Google allows you to ask customers for reviews. It does not allow you to offer anything in return, and it does not allow you to ask only the happy ones. The copy below is written to stay on the right side of both rules. Read Google’s policy.
Your review link
Paste your Google review link or your Place ID to generate a link.

Complies with Google’s review policy: no incentive, no gating.
Asking is allowed
Google explicitly permits soliciting reviews that reflect a genuine experience. Ask every customer, not a hand-picked few.
No incentives, ever
Payment, discounts, gift cards, free filters, raffle entries — all prohibited, and reviews earned that way get removed.
No review gating
You may not discourage negative reviews or selectively solicit positive ones. The “rate us 1 to 5, and only 4s and 5s go to Google” funnel breaks this rule, which is why this generator will not produce one.
Don’t ask for a star count
“Leave us 5 stars” is soliciting a rating rather than a review. Ask for an honest one and let the stars follow.
Paste your link or Place ID
Best option: open your Business Profile, choose Read reviews then Get more reviews, and paste the link Google gives you, because that is the one Google officially supports. No profile access yet? Paste your Place ID from Google's Place ID Finder and we will build a direct write-a-review link for you.
Check the link before you send it
The generator validates what you paste and tells you when it looks wrong instead of quietly producing a dead link. Hit "Test it" once to confirm the review box opens on your profile, then save the link in your CRM.
Copy the follow-up text and email
Send the ask the same day you finish a tune-up or a changeout, while the work is fresh. Both messages come pre-written with your business name, your tech's name, and the link already in place, one tap to copy.
Stay inside Google’s policy
The copy asks every customer for an honest review, with no discount, gift, or "leave us 5 stars" wording, and no funnel that sends unhappy customers somewhere private. Edit it freely, because the tool re-checks your wording against Google’s rules as you type.

How hvac contractors get more Google reviews without breaking the rules
Google reviews are the closest thing home services has to a lead multiplier: they feed the local map pack, they are the first thing a homeowner reads before calling, and a shop with 180 reviews beats a shop with 12 on nothing but social proof. The bottleneck is almost never willingness, it is friction. A customer who has to search your name, scroll to your profile, and hunt for the review button will not finish. A direct link that drops them straight into the review box will.
There are two links worth knowing. Google generates a short review link for you inside your Business Profile under Read reviews then Get more reviews, and that one is officially supported and is what you should use if you have profile access. If you do not, you can build a direct write-a-review link from your Place ID, which you can look up free in Google's Place ID Finder. That format is what most of the industry uses, though Google does not formally document it, so this tool also hands you the documented Maps URL as a backup.
The part that gets shops in trouble is the ask, not the link. Google's Maps user-generated-content policy prohibits offering payment, discounts, free goods, or prize entries in exchange for reviews, and it separately prohibits "review gating", meaning discouraging negative reviews or selectively soliciting positive ones. That kills the popular "rate us 1 to 5, and only the 4s and 5s go to Google" funnel. Asking every customer for an honest review is explicitly allowed, and it is the only approach that survives an audit. The text and email this generator writes are built that way on purpose, and it will flag your edits if they drift.

How do I create a Google review link for my business?
The supported route is your Business Profile: select Read reviews, then Get more reviews, then Copy, and Google hands you a short review link and a QR code. If you do not have profile access, look up your Place ID in Google's Place ID Finder and paste it here; the generator builds a direct write-a-review link from it and also gives you Google's documented Maps URL as a backup.
What is a Place ID and where do I find mine?
A Place ID is the unique text identifier Google uses for your business location. Find yours by typing your business name and address into Google's Place ID Finder (developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-placeid-finder), with no API key or account needed. Note that Place IDs do not all start with "ChIJ", because Google also issues IDs starting with GhIJ, Eic, and Iho, and there is no maximum length.
Can I offer a discount or gift card for a Google review?
No. Google's prohibited and restricted content policy specifically bans content "posted due to an incentive offered by a business - such as payment, discounts, free goods and/or services," and merchants may not offer incentives in exchange for posting, changing, or removing a review. Reviews collected that way get removed, and repeat offenders risk profile penalties. Asking without offering anything is fine and is what this tool generates.
Is review gating against Google's rules?
Yes. Google prohibits merchants from "discourag[ing] or prohibit[ing] negative reviews, or selectively solicit[ing] positive reviews." That means the common survey funnel, rate us 1 to 5, happy customers go to Google, unhappy ones go to a private feedback form, is a policy violation. This generator will not produce one. It asks every customer for an honest review and flags gating language if you edit the copy.
When should I send the review request after a hvac job?
Same day, ideally within a couple of hours of finishing a tune-up or a changeout. The customer still remembers your tech's name and the system is visibly working. Text outperforms email for open rate; sending both, text first and email a day later if there is no response, is a reasonable cadence. Ask every customer, every time, not just the ones you expect to say something nice.
Is this Google review link generator free?
Yes. Every tool on CloseCrew is free for contractors, no account required, and nothing is sent to a server. The link and the follow-up copy are generated in your browser.
