How electrical contractors use a financing calculator to close bigger jobs
Price resistance almost always comes down to the number on the invoice. Reframing a panel upgrade as an affordable monthly payment — "$150 a month" instead of "$8,000" — is one of the most reliable ways to win approval on high-ticket work. This calculator turns any quote into that monthly figure in seconds, so you can present financing at the kitchen table with confidence.
It uses the same fully-amortizing loan formula every lender uses: the monthly payment is principal times the monthly rate, scaled by the standard amortization factor, so the balance pays off to exactly zero over the term. You also see the total interest and total of payments, plus a comparison across common terms — a longer term lowers the monthly payment but costs more interest overall. One caution worth passing along: most "0%" promotions are deferred-interest offers, where interest accrues at the full APR from day one and is only waived if the balance is paid in full before the promo ends.

How do I calculate a monthly payment for electrical financing?
Use the standard loan amortization formula: monthly payment = P × i × (1 + i)^n ÷ ((1 + i)^n − 1), where P is the amount financed, i is the APR divided by 12, and n is the number of months. For a $8,000 job at 9.99% APR over 60 months, that is about $170/month. At 0% APR the payment is simply the amount financed divided by the number of months.
What APR and term should I use?
Contractor financing through providers like GreenSky, Wisetack, Synchrony, and Wells Fargo typically runs 7.99–9.99% APR for good credit, higher for fair credit, and 0% for qualifying promotional plans. Terms range from 12 to 72 months, with 36–60 months most common on larger jobs. Use the actual APR and term from your lender for an accurate quote.
Does a longer term save the customer money?
No — a longer term lowers the monthly payment but increases the total interest paid, because the balance is outstanding for more months. A shorter term costs more per month but less overall. Show two or three terms side by side so the customer can trade off the monthly payment against total cost.
